Eye Primer: Urban Decay vs. Lancome Aquatique

14 Aug

In the post below, we mentioned that an eye makeup primer is a must before using any eye shadows. The primer ensures that the eye makeup stays for a longer period without bleeding into the crease. My eyelids are naturally oily so its always hard for the eye shadow to stay put and by the end of the day, my eye makeup is usually smudged or creased. I am sure many of you girls might be dealing with a similar situation, so in this post, I will talk about eye shadow primer.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

ClaimsOur # 1 best-selling product in a NEW easy-to-squeeze tube! Apply before your eyeshadow for more vibrant CREASE-FREE color that lasts for 24 hours.

Available in three shades: Eden, Sin, and Greed

Quantity: 11 ml

 Price: $20/approx. INR 1,000

Review: This is one product that I have seen rave reviews about! On the urban decay website, out of 3,568 reviews about 3,170 reviews have given it a 5 star rating. The texture of the product is moist and is very easy to spread on the eyelids. After using it, the eyeshadow and even eyeliner last all day without ever showing signs of fading or creasing. It also helps to make the eye shadow color seem more vibrant! Overall, this product is a MUST HAVE for makeup lovers because it gives you the confidence that your eye shadow will last all day.

  • Rating: 10/10 – (seriously this product is amazing!)
  • Would I recommend: Yes! Go buy it right away! 😉
  • Available @: Urban Decay Website, Sephora, Macy’s

AQUATIQUE Waterproof Eyecolour Base

Claims:  The silky-smooth, waterproof formula holds pigment in place and delivers nude, barely-there color that evens out eyelids and leaves them with a natural, matte finish.

Price: $25/approx. INR 1,500

Available in 2 shades: Nude and Deep (brown)

Review: This primer is from Lancome and is considered as one of the best primer for eyeshadows. Just like Urban Decay, the primer prevents creasing and allows the eyeshadow to look fresh all day, even into the evening. However, the Lancome base comes with its share of disappointments. The texture is thick and pulls the eyelid when you apply it – it almost has a consistency of a molding clay. The application of the product is slightly messy and the product tends to get under nails (while applying). Also using fingers can be unsanitary and it can hard to properly put the primer in the crease (and swabs and brushes don;t work well with the primer)

  • Rating: 6/10 – (does the job but the application and consistency are minus points)
  • Would I recommend: No, try Urban Decay instead (plus UD is a bit cheaper)
  • Available @: Lancome Website, Sephora, Macy’s, Nordstrom

So, in this battle of Urban Decay vs. Lancome…. URBAN DECAY definitely won! lol 🙂 Let us know your favorite eyeshadow primer.
