Engagement Pictures *Update*

17 Aug

Hey guys! This is just a quick update! I finally looked for some pictures in my engagement outfit and found these few pictures that were taken at my cousin’s wedding. These pictures are much more clearer than the pictures below and better reflect the work and embellishment on the lehenga. Hope you like it.

As mentioned earlier, this lehenga is very versatile and its so simple that it can be worn to almost any occasion – big or small. If you guys would like to know where I bought my lehenga from, then make sure to check the original post on my Engagement pictures below.

My Engagement Pictures

16 Aug

Hey guys! Today, I am going to be sharing something very important with you all.. My Engagement Pictures!! 🙂 I was going to post my engagement pictures during our blog’s one month anniversary but I just couldn’t wait any longer haha..! Well, the pictures are old as I got engaged in July 2011 and got married in December 2011. But regardless of the pictures being old, I am going to share them and will give you a list of places to visit for your engagement outfit in Delhi. I hope you guys enjoy my engagement pictures and I’ll post my wedding pictures to celebrate our blog’s one month anniversary.

For starters, let me just tell you guys that Indian wedding are like a fashion runway and all the aunties are models, hahaha. It is during these occasions that you see fashionable and designer outfits floating around, it seriously its like a fashion show!!!

As for my engagement outfit,  I wanted a lehenga that was not too tacky or gaudy, rather, I wanted something that was simple. I had no idea about what color to pick or choose, but my husband (boyfriend back then) suggested that I wear pink. So with this in mind, I headed to the markets of Delhi with my mom and this is when our ordeal began…!!

I pictured a lehenga in fishtail style and with a lot of flare:

So the hunt for the perfect lehenga began…

My mom and I visited countless stores over the course of 2 weeks! Everywhere we searched, all we found were these tacky, over the top lehengas! It was so hard to make the sales uncle understand that we wanted something simple and with very little work! After no luck, my mom and I headed to Chandini Chowk – a place that we should have visited to begin with. The small shops in the alleyways of Chandini Chowk are filled with intricate patterns of saris and lehengas that will make you forget Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi’s lehengas!! Any shop you visit, I am sure you will fall in love with atleast one outfit!

We headed to this one tiny store in Chandini Chowk (sorry, I forgot the name since it was a long time back) and the sales uncle began to show us different lehengas with bright and bold colors! For a good 30 minutes, he showed some pretty interesting and gaudy lehengas, but I guess after 30 minutes, he realized that we were serious about buying one. Then began the arrival of beautiful lehengas!

As he was showing us the lehengas, I looked to my left and saw this beautiful pink net lehenga with gold embroidery! I instantly fell in love with it! It was a fish tail lehenga and as I tried it on, I knew it was the one! And guess what?!? the color was PINK haha.. so it was sort of like finding the perfect outfit! Plus, the lehenga was tradition yet modern.. tradition in the sense that it was all covered but modern in the sense that it had a net covering over the stomach! It was a perfect fit! In the matter of 5 mins, I paid for the lehenga and left the shop relieved! 🙂

Sorry for going on and on.. haha, but here are few pictures from the engagement. ( I am sorry, the pictures are a little blurry as I digged them out of my friend’s album – I couldn’t find the CD that had my professional engagement pictures).

  • Where I bought it from: some small shop in Chandini Chowk
  • Price: 40,000 INR

I am glad I picked this lehenga because it so versatile and so simple that I can wear it to any other occasions! 🙂 Now, I am going to provide you with a list of places that you should definitely visit when shopping for engagement/wedding in Delhi.

  1. Meena Bazaar : you will find Meena Bazaar in almost every mall – some of the pieces in the collection are definitely worth a look, but at times you will also find some outfits that are either bland or so-so.
  2. Chandini Chowk: as I said, you will amazing pieces of lehengas and saris here but the problem is that you have to spend a long time looking for lehengas or saris! Its worth the time because eventually you will find something that you will fall in love with.
  3.  Lajpat Nagar: you will find amazing shops that will have beautiful lehengas! The prices for the lehengas can be a bit expensive but its still worth a visit! And Lajpat Nagar is filled with shops that sell fabric and sari borders, so if you want to design your own lehengas or sari, then definitely go to Lajpat Nagar.

Well, this is all for now! 🙂 If you want to know more about where to buy your outfit, then please let us know and we will suggest something for each one of you!
